Update:
I wanted to come back and update my review. Barb the owner of the company called me to talk about my concerns. She actively listened and came up with a solution to solve them.
I appreciate that level of customer service. It may have just been an off day/experience. In the future I plan to use them again to service the equipment.
I just had my heater and ac replaced by North Winds heating and cooling.
Prior to contacting them for a quote I started looking for someone at the end of last year. I had 4 other companies come out then. Two of those companies just chose not to return the call to purchase. The other 2 weren’t on the table. Most of those total quotes ranged from 10k to 13k. Those units were covered in the tax credit.
After sitting on it for the year I decided to try again this year. There was one other company that I got a quote from. The guy was super defensive when I asked questions about the scope of the job and cost.
That took me to Nate at North Winds. Nate was super informative during his quote. He told me how they would set up the heater to have more airflow before it hit the filter if I chose that option.
The quote came in at $17500. That was a bit of a shock. He went through why he was more money. Part of the expense was the size of the company and quality of the workers and the overall character of the company. After much debate I decided a company that shows up and can handle questions was probably worth it.
Prior to them coming out I wanted to get a price break down because the quote disappeared once I signed it. Nate sent it to Haley to send me the info. Sadly the info I was given was just the total price with no break down. This made me lose trust in them because of the lack of transparency. While the units were in my garage there was a cost sheet which gave me more questions than answers to how we got to the $17500.
They did not have the conversion kit for the heater so they have to come back in two weeks to finish up the job. Because of this the tech just went through the ac unit. I didn’t have the ability to get down and check the heater and since it wasn’t done I didn’t think much of it.
Nate called to schedule a follow up where I was eventually provided the cost info that I was requesting from the beginning. I had also been able to go down and check it out and was not happy with how they left the basement.
My drop ceiling tiles had chunks out of them, some also were in the ceiling still, the post between them were also moved and not placed back how they were, one was missing completely. None of this was conveyed by the installer. I noticed on the walk through with Nate that the recliner I have downstairs was copping a lean. I don’t get downstairs often so checked and sure enough it was fine prior to them coming out. The location is right under where the duct work is located.
There was no issue knowing it was a much higher cost to go with North Winds. I thought I was getting a good product with excellent people making it happen. I did not receive the level of service I would except from a premium priced company.
If you are considering using this company I suggest you pause. Maybe it was an off job for them, but at $17,500 save yourself the head ache.

We had North Winds install a new furnace and air about a year ago, everyone that we have worked with from the company has been excellent to work with. Today their technician Allen cleaned and inspected our furnace he was very knowledgeable and friendly, happy to answer my many questions. He did an excellent job. After a year of running it is evident that the system was sized perfectly for the house and installed well. Everyone at North Winds takes pride in doing their work with great skill and care and it shows in the work they do. - Thank you North Winds for your great work!

Great crew with a lot of knowledge. Very professional and impressive customer service. They went over their sales pitch at the end, but it was informative and not pushy. They addressed what I needed and gave me valuable advice.
Reasonable price.

My furnace died. I phoned Northwinds on a Friday evening and spoke to their answering service at 7:00. Their on call person, Gavin, phoned me back within 15 minutes and was at my house before 8:30. Wonderful and prompt service. He checked things out and gave me several options. He didn’t pressure me to select the most expensive one. Great guy and great service. I would recommend them.
Allen and Todd came on Friday and replaced my furnace very efficiently. They were very professional and nice to work with.

My experience was very good they met my expectations. I received calls before they came, an email and text reminder as well. Everyone was very pleasant, friendly and helpful starting with the initial phone call to schedule the appointment. My daughter recommended them and I’m glad she did because they did not disappoint. Thank you all for your services and pleasantries. Just wanted to update my previous post from a 4 star to a 5 star. My mom had her furnace installed today and those gentlemen were just that gentleman, professional, helpful, friendly and kind. They moved things she couldn’t due to her age and having a knee replacement surgery not too long ago. They explained the process and helped her come down the stairs to see her new furnace. She couldn’t have asked for a better crew. Thank you again everyone and Happy Holidays to you and your families.
