I got the N2 and my husband got the N1.
N2 was pretty good and I liked it. N1 was a bit more towards the sweet taste and I’m not a fan of it but that’s just my preference.
The hot and sour soup was meh, I could feel the vinegar but there was something else in it that was kind of strong.
The fresh rolls with chicken was good but I wish there was a better sauce for it because the sauce that was given was sweet.

I used to enjoy the food, but we were there Saturday, march 2nd between 3:30-4:30, at Detroit Shipping Company location. We ordered grilled chicken and candied beef, it’s not the same food anymore, it depends most likely who is in the kitchen. The chicken was charred and very salty…the candied beef has no sweet taste to it but salty. I wanted to return it and let them taste a portion, but my husband stopped me, because there’s a bit of a line in front of us waiting for their orders, and we don’t want to be the center of attention. I just want to bring this issue to the owner, that whoever is in the kitchen that afternoon, did not do a great job. FOOD TOO SALTY AND THE RICE IS BROWN, NOT WHITE AND SOFT, LIKE IT USED TO.

Bangkok 96 is a gem when it comes to authentic Thai cuisine. From the moment I walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere set the tone for a fantastic dining experience. The staff was incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations for first-timers.
I started with their Tom Yum soup, which was perfectly balanced—spicy, tangy, and incredibly flavorful. For the main course, the Pad Thai was phenomenal, with just the right amount of seasoning and a generous portion of fresh ingredients. The Green Curry was another highlight, packed with rich, creamy coconut flavor and tender vegetables.
What sets Bangkok 96 apart is their attention to detail and the freshness of every dish. Whether you like it mild or extra spicy, they cater to your preferences without compromising the authenticity of the flavors. The portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality.
Overall, Bangkok 96 is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Thai food in a relaxed, inviting setting. I will definitely be coming back to explore more of their menu!

Recently returned from Bangkok and was looking forward to some good Pad Thai and this place did not disappoint! However the spring rolls for $1 each aren't so great as they are almost empty. Would love to have had some mango rice too, maybe next time

I've been eating at Bangkok 96 since mid 90-s. It was my favorite place to have Thai food in continental US. Food, service and atmosphere, they were the best, by far the best!
This place is not the same anymore. No more normal full dine-in service anymore. You can get a carry out and eat out of the container at the table. And food is "so-so" to say the best. They blame Covid for it, but everyone else recovered just fime. Whatever it is, I'm not coming back :(
