My car has been starting intermittently for the last 2 weeks. I took it to belle tire to have them look at. The car started up fine for them, so they gave it back to me at no charge since they couldn’t do any work on it.
A week later when the problem persisted, I took it into auto-lab hoping they could figure out what’s going on. Later that day they called me saying that they couldn’t do a diagnosis because it was starting up fine for them, but they suggested that I leave it with them longer in case the problem came back up so they could address the issue. The next day, they told me to come pick it up since the car was working fine and they couldn’t figure out what was wrong. When I arrived, they charged me $65 for a diagnostics fee. I asked them what the diagnosis was. They didn’t have an answer for me. I asked them what labor they actually did besides turning the key in the ignition. They couldn’t give me an answer. I guess I should have asked up front if they would charge me even if the car is working fine and they don’t end up doing any work on it. My bad for assuming the integrity of an auto shop. I would suggest going to a place where they are more clear about what they charge. When I asked what “shop supplies” they charged me for, they told me “electricity and gloves.” Definitely find another place of business. Unless you know them personally they will be sure to make their money off you.

I recommend this place a thousand times. Nobody ever wants car troubles, but my experience here this week made my whole situation less stressful. The owner is actually the one who worked on my car, very polite and professional. Actually pulled me in the garage to explain what was being worked on. I felt welcome as soon as I walked through the door. The young woman who was running the computer was very helpful and kind as well. I am a woman in my 20’s, and it’s easy to get screwed by mechanics. I didn’t feel taken advantage of here at all. It’s an honest shop that I can trust. Next time I need my car worked on while I’m in the area, I’ll be coming back. Thank you guys so much.

Took my car here after having trouble with it starting up intermittently. They said they couldn’t find anything wrong. The next day I went to pick it up and they charged me $65 for a diagnostics fee. They said it was $120 for a diagnosis but they gave me half off because they didn’t actually diagnose anything? When I took my car to Belle Tire with the same intermittent starting problem, they also couldn’t find the problem, but they didn’t charge me because they couldn’t do any labor without knowing what was wrong. Autolab couldn’t figure out what was wrong but they still charged me. They told me I could bring the car back when the problem does come back up.. I will not be bringing my car back. I will go to a mechanic that informs clients about pricing up front instead of charging a diagnostics fee without providing an actual diagnosis. No idea what the $5.40 charge for “shop supplies” is covering either.

EDIT: 3 days after getting the control arm replaced, the brand new control arm snapped. The bolt that attaches the ball joint to the control arm completely missing so I imagine it was either left off or over tightened/left loose. Praying that my car isn’t totaled and that they are able to help when they open on Monday. I’m in worse shape than I started and I’m already in the hole 1,200$
EDIT******
Honest, fair, and fast. Thanks for being a place that I can trust.

We took my truck here before and had a great experience. Decided to take my husband's car here for a check engine light. We were told the purge valve was the reason the light came on per O'Reilly's check but, Auto Lab Said it was an O2 sensor. They quoted a thousand dollars. I happen to look at mechanical and collision quotes for a living and have the software to double check pricing and labor times. Besides the diagnostic, they were over charging by an hour and also would not quote me an aftermarket part and on top of that, marked up the OEM part by $120.00. When I asked why, Paige gave me some story about them warranting the part, which the part would have a warranty anyway since a licensed mechanic was installing it. I went there, paid the $130.00 diag fee, just to take it somewhere else to find out it is the purge valve and it cost $500.00, with the part and labor. So I paid them $130.00 for a diag and they didn't even diagnose it properly. Just beware so this doesn't happen to you. I thought I had found a good place and apparently they are hit and miss depending on the day.
