Location:
We ate at Barrio Cocina y Tequileria yesterday, and it’s such a cute spot in downtown Plymouth. Parking was easy with plenty of street options, and the restaurant wasn’t crowded, which made for a relaxing experience.
Food:
We kicked things off with the triple dip appetizer, and everything tasted super fresh—I especially loved the queso! For drinks, I tried the appleciderita, a seasonal special. It was really sweet, but I think a touch of ginger or cinnamon could’ve taken it to the next level. I ended up liking the raspberry mojito (not pictured) more—it was delicious and super refreshing.
For my main, I went with the Birria Quesadilla. It was solid, with four generous pieces served alongside guacamole and sour cream. The only downside was the sauce it came with—it was way too salty. Also, heads up, the salsa is an extra charge. Since the quesadilla doesn’t include sides, I added rice and elote. The rice was a letdown—some of it was undercooked and bland, though adding salsa helped. The elote was even more disappointing—no real flavor, no cotija cheese, and it taste like it was made from canned corn.
Service & Ambience:
Our waitress was super sweet and quick, which was a plus! The ambience really stood out too—cozy, vibrant, and perfect for a night out.
Overall, Barrio has a great vibe and some good options, but the sides definitely need work. Still, it’s worth checking out for the atmosphere and a fun drink!

Barrio is a pretty solid place to go for Mexican food! I wouldn’t necessarily say that it’s quite authentic, but, that doesn’t make it any less good. The vibe is great - especially in the summer with the outdoor seating. If you’re looking for a solid Mexican restaurant with a nice vibe and atmosphere, you can’t go wrong. I went with a couple friends and we got three items and split them all. I’ll outline what we ordered:
Chips & Two Salsas: this was on this lunch specials menu and it was a great deal. The Barrio Salsa is just a standard mild salsa - nothing crazy, but solid, the verde was really good. It was almost a little creamy, but very delicious.
Pork Al Pastor Quesadilla: very delicious! I love Al Pastor, but, I’ve never had it in a quesadilla. It was really good and just a very solid quesadilla.
Chicken Wet Burrito: the wet burrito is pretty big so I’m glad that I split it. I’m not the biggest fan of sour cream, but the crema wasn’t too bad. The burrito itself was good, but it can be a little bit hard to eat. I pretty much just cut it up and it became reminiscent of a burrito bowl. But it was tasty!

We have been here a couple of times before and couldn’t get in due to their long wait time so this time we were there on a weekday and the wait time was 20 minutes.
They do not take reservations
Service was quick, we ordered chips and salsa, cocktails and quesadillas.
The quesadillas were delicious and one of the best I have ever had.
It was very fresh and perfect.

Such a fun gem!
Best wet burrito I have ever had. Great vegetarian option. The salsa app was spicy and worth the money. Will definitely go back for the big drink list.
What a unique building also, just beautiful.
