Talk about a hidden gem. This place gave me great vibes when I walked into the restaurant. It gave me that Sunday sitting at grandma's vibe. Everyone was super nice and friendly, the place is right off 75 so it's easy to access. The food was absolutely delicious! It felt 100% homemade. I got the Shepards pie and a side of 2 biscuits. My girlfriend got the Cajun shrimp Linguine. Both were very flavorful and fulfilling and in expensive. Rice pudding also comes with your meal for desert. I had it warm with cinnamon and whipped cream. I told my girlfriend it tasted like a holiday in my mouth. I love places like these. We will be back soon. A must try!

Rachel provided great service. My husband's pop was never empty and only charged for one fountain drink. His over easy eggs were perfect... no brown edges. The bread was homemade. I've never seen him clean his plate like he did that day. He ordered the Village Breakfast. I ordered the 2 piece Atlantic cod with coleslaw. The fish batter was delicious, and fish was flaky. I must admit the coleslaw was the best part of my meal.
At the register, we were advised of the canoe and kayak rentals. Sounds like fun!
p.s. you may need a sweater
p.s.s. this is a relaxed, casual diner/environment, so be ready to take your time and enjoy your meal.

Overall food was great! I have 37 of experience running restaurants and yes you will run into a few people that don't have a personality. These 2 ladies both just seemed like everyone that walked in was a bother. For example when myself and my husband walked in the one behind the counter looked at us like she had better stuff to do. Never greeted us or even said anything about having a seat. There was another couple seated to the left as we walked in and she even noticed it. She said "she could of at least told you to have a seat or greeted you" I was like your exactly right. Customer service is very important especially when you are a mom and pop restaurant. Granted our server was not as bad as the other young lady. If your going to be a server and your wages depend on tips try to be a little more friendly.

This place has definitely improved over the years. I remember back on the day, people used to call this place "The River Dump". Since the new owners have taken over, I've continued to be impressed with this place.
Their menu is quite deep. Despite that, I ordered the chicken teriyaki, which was a special. It came with 2 sides. So I got fries and a salad. It was all very good. The chicken was juicy and tender. The teriyaki sauce that it was smothered in was very tangy and flavorful. The meal also came with a small rice pudding.
What's also very cool about this place is that it has a very locals feel to it. Everybody knows each as Rockwood is a reletively small city. But being off of the interstate, there are a lot of truckers and travelers that stop in for a quick bite. With that being said, it would be nice if they opened earlier than 9am. I feel as if they would generate much more business during the early morning hours.
This place also has kayaks for rent. Being right on the Huron River, it may not be a bad option.
Overall, this is a nice little diner that offers kayaking

Good place to fill your belly after a trip down the river. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the Humus and rice pudding was! We took both to-go and now I'm sad I didn't order more!
